Yepme.com - Full Page advertisement on Newspaper

Sunday Morning , Cup of Tea in Hand, Shahrukh Khan with a full front page advertisement, ad with 50% + 20% Sale on apparels !! what else for a good morning.
Certainly Cost of advertising will be in crores , but number of hits on web site and purchase through the site will be quite higher than advertising costs.

Now a days , companies launch their advertisement on the front page of the newspapers. In facts its Pre Front page of the newspaper which is viewed prior to front page news. So, viewership is certain. Even if a news paper is not read, the objective of advertiser is fulfilled because people must pay attention on the front page with celebrities and discount offers. This type of advertisement is launched with an objective to cement its position in a single day. Once a person purchases a product , it is permanently a place to buy.

Yepme.com is on the front page of Times of India with a big news that is offering 50% + 25 % off if payment is made online only. The advertisement model is Shahrukh Khan which gives a special edge on the company over others. Till now all the brands promoted by ShahRukh has been successful except a few. but  his face could made the brand popular. Certainly , the level of investment made is praiseworthy. Till today , lakhs of people might have a hit the web site and clearly it will emerge a competitor of Flipkart, amazon, jabong and myntra :) . Till now we know that Yepme has a store in Jobong, now its a competitor or something else. Certainly any venture capitalist / investor have pumped in funds seeing the entrepreneurs. Bes of Luck !! Its always good to start venture on our own rather than serving pezzovonantes !! Will have to research on its future activities. Yepme.com

Its a new venture of IIT and IIMs graduate and its also targeting to attract people who prefer purchase goods from online website. Till now the business model is nothing new. How they have worked on quality of goods offered, quality of service, response of consumers. On promotion front they have done fairly well taking Shahrukh, News paper front page advertisement.

 Happy Sunday shopping
Time will tell  how these products are and how much the company could earn from the advertisement !!

7 Indirect Beneficiaries of Online Selling Portals

Not to say again, buying and selling of goods through web sites is a talk of households. The business which seemed to be a walker like tortoise is now running like a panther. In India before 15 years an ordinary man could sell his products or used articles through baazi.com only. Other web sites were there but not very popular. Seeing the current customer base and rising trend in sales of “baazi”, ebay.com bought the portal itself rather than creating its own image first. So the first beneficiary was a performer web site which showed their performance and got a good foreign investor or an existing large foreign online selling portal. I am not much discussing the history of emergence of online selling goods in India; rather I would like to mention the beneficiaries who eventually became the ultimate beneficiaries. Major beneficiaries are:

  • Courier Companies: Courier companies have grabbed the opportunity to deliver goods traded through online goods selling portals like amazon.in, flipkart, myntra, jabong, ebay, rediff, etc. Some companies like Amazon advertise that they can send goods within 24 hours. Flipkart also advertises about quick delivery. ebay also takes word from sellers about delivery period and holds them accountable. So we can easily imagine how couriers companies are getting business and how they should be efficient. Big players like dhl, bluedart and first flight etc. have already branches across nation so they took the ultimate benefit of this opportunity. Even middle sized courier companies like shyam courier, express, overnite etc. take leverage of their associated companies. People working in MNCs do not have time to go to market and purchase gift for their love, kins, and friends. Online purchasing is one of the most suitable options which directly give effect to rise in business of courier companies. If somebody has a big family across India along with their relatives, opening a courier company can be a good option.

  • Stationery:  Online goods are first packed, sealed, covered and then addressed. Bare minimum stationeries required are – Thermacol, paper, cartons, card board box, pen, pencil, tapes, glue, cards, paper waste, packing paper, computer cartridges etc.  These bare minimum things are pushing demand forward

  • Stock Market:  Online portals have already engraved their roots in India and now they are thinking to get themselves listed.  However, their business model and thinking are totally different from traditional businessmen like Ambanis, Tatas, Birlas etc. They are quite young and different thinker. Mostly people who are quite young and college outs join this business. These companies are offering Stock Options to their employees. Seeing the rising trend of the business, private equity, venture capitalists, and investors are pumping in their money. They are eyeing on the big opening at Stock Market for their exit route. But one of the best beneficiaries would be employees who have opted or will opt for ESOP (Employees Stock Option Plan). This is also an opportunity for young aspirants. They must go for this plan

  • Small Business: There are still crores of people who do not want to buy goods through online media. However, they just see which goods at what rate are being sold. They just see the quality and description of goods and purchase goods from a nearby shop who cannot afford to advertise such goods. But the same is going both ways. A person goes to market and purchase same or similar goods through online portals at deep discount. But currently it is the small businessmen who are more benefitted as they do not need to publicise their products

  • Banks: Credit Card payments, online fund transfer are now day’s chargeable services. Sometimes people forget to pay their dues on time and they are slapped with an interest @ 36 % p.a and penalty which is completely enjoyed by bankers.

  • Users of Internet: Online shopping viewers are now informed buyers!! They have seen the goods , they know about goods,

  • Birthday boys and Girls: People are now getting gifts without fail. Friends living abroad or at distant places can now send gifts of their choice. Beneficiaries are people who celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries etc.

There are other direct and indirect beneficiaries, will talk about them later on !! Please add some points to enrich my and viewers knowledge

Excellent Salesmanship in Kolkata - Howrah local trains by Hawkers

Kolkata and Howrah are connected to sub urban areas of west Bengal through fast moving local trains. They travel up to 3 hours to reach distant places like Katwa, Bardhman, Habra, Kalyani, Canning etc. On these long route local trains, one can easily see excellent example of salesmanship by local hawkers. My observations on them are :

1. They know the qualities of product they are selling - Pen with multiple colours, perfume for toilets, Napkins, Handkerchiefs , seasonal fruits , snacks etc etc... they know the source of products, qualities of the product, their durability. They deliver all the qualities and price in Bengali language only in a very friendly and easy to understand manner.

2. Almost all the hawkers are very active , polite and very cooperative. Cooperative means they can sell low value product even if a buyer gives them currency of higher denomination i.e they never complain for change.

3. They do not sell any product harmful for health. Quite possible , their products are not best of quality and in long run it may affect good health. Like " Churan " ( eating powder ) , dry sweets, moori, etc.

4. Health of all the salesman are good. They are stout and their stomach are flat.

5. All of them are debt ridden and on the mercy of lenders and now by microfinance people. Micro finance companies have big time opportunity to help them and get themselves helped

6. All of them are hard work. In a particular journey they try to cover all the compartments of a train.

7. Their products are substandard to low quality except fruits. If they introduce a new product, they sell good products initially.

8. Most of them are good speakers. Sometimes, they become philosophers while describing the good effects of their products. Like herbal medicines for stomach.  They start with the daily problems of the passengers and they nicely link it with their stomach problems

9. They sell locally manufactured products which they may purchase on credit for few days. Now a days , some hawkers sell China made toys.

10. They don't believe in quarrelling with customers and don't waste time.

One of the examples of their framing of words

" HATHEY NIYE BHALO LAAGE, CHUSTEYO BHALO LAGEY".. BOLOOON ????    " EK TAKAY HAATHYE NEBEN KI CHUSBEN"

( It feels good if you either take in your hands or suck Tell me what will you prefer - taking in hands or sucking in a rupee )

Don't worry - He is selling toffees :):):)

Fair and Lovely - How much do you believe on its claim ???

Since childhood I have been watching advertisements of Fair and Lovely. Models are changing but the claim of Fair and Lovely is not changing. The objective of its advertisement is to attract customers who are not looked fair i.e. customers who have a bit dark complexion.

The company knows that Indians are always interested in girls who have fair complexion. Dark complexion girls always face hardship to get a better husband. They have been listening adverse comments on their complexion and body colours from neighbours, school mates, sisters and relatives also. Even sometimes their guardians are sceptical , how the marriage of their daughter will be accomplished !! No good boy would prefer their daughter.

Among these problems , if an advertisement claims that it would bring fairness among those ladies, one can imagine how girls get crazy about their fairness treatment. They just forget about their education and goals , and they just keep themselves busy on improving the geography of their faces. They believe , the cream, will not only start to give compliments from boy and uncles , but also it will increase their negotiation from a prospective candidate of her future husband. In order to get a better face they just purchase at least 6 to 10 tubes and it will just impact on the revenue of the company.

We all know.. our governments knows ... consumer protection council knows ..... a coal can never be white. Our original colour of skin can never change whatever you do. But every body has closed their eyes and we are allowing the company to sell their products on unverified claims. A cream is made up of chemicals and chemicals can never be skin friendly. But people do not think and they just purchase purchase and purchase.

I was seeing an advertisement ... FAIR AND LOVELY FAIRNESS TREATMENT... now a days a frequent advertisement. A father wants that his young girl should marry but the girl insists on getting a job , get financial independence , wealthy , own house etc etc after which she can get a husband of equal status. Father is shown confused .... but her mother seems to be very happy. The advertiser focus on the face of girl's mother who is the representative of all Indian ladies beyond 45 years of age who have younger daughter going to colleges , universities, or on job. If this lady in the advertisement is shown happy and satisfied, it gives a subconscious effect on women of India. Now can anybody explain me... what is the role of Fair and Lovely ..... The cream seller wants to tell ... The girl got confidence because she used FAIR AND LOVELY FAIRNESS TREATMENT. ..... Do you really believe.?

Consumers need to ask the company to prove their claim. This hard question must reach to the company. It is just taking money from the pockets of the common middleclass citizen. The company has to disclose the results of experiments before public.

Now we have FAIR AND HANDSOME.. will talk on it .. later on!!

Anti Corruption Advertisement by WBSTEDCL

After Bula Di , Now we have Bidyut Babu !!. Before 4 years, AIDS awareness campaign was started by Government of West Bengal through a cartoon Character naming Bula Di ( Di means Madam in Bengali). The government started helped lines in which any body can call to Bula di to get an understanding about HIV and AIDS.

Now, West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited has come up with an advertisement in newspaper on December 14,2014 to curb corruption. Through a Cartoon Character, BIDYUT BABU it has given a message " Never bribe for new connection"

This advertisement creates an awareness among citizens about anti bribery and anti corruption. It sets an example for other Electricity Companies and companies doing essential goods / services  in India to start anti corruption campaign.

Off late, Foreign companies must be eyeing on initiating Electricity distribution / generation business in India considering its scope and coverage. Better for an existing company to initiate its anti corruption measures.

The advertisement publishes the objective of the company and also requests APL and BPL customers should not pay bribe to anyone for new connection and if any person asks for money or bribe should immediately report to nearest Customer Care Centre.

Its an effective advertisement for pervade anti corruption

Women Love Dots

New Advertisement of Skore Condoms shows three young  ladies wearing bikinis on a swimming pool. Their clothes have dots .. . The Advertiser speaks in the back ground at the end of the advertisement.. women like dots.

Where ??

dots on bras or dots on condoms............. ???

If you wear a dotted condom , women will like it. Even an old advertisement of Kama Sutra used to say.. dotted condoms for extra pleasure.....

The company is not selling contraceptive but a sex product. The object of condom should be birth control , but businessmen forget ethics ... they show young ladies like they are ready to be fucked by anybody who carries skore condoms in their pocket.  Women like dots hence they wear those bras in which there is a design of dots......

Dotted condoms may create pleasure..but does advertiser guarantees that after ten fifteen intercourse , the inner walls of vaginas of women will not be damaged. Those ladies after that may suffer but may not know the exact reason of their suffering. Somethings are good in natural ways. The desire of more joy and pleasure brings more sufferings.
